Post Graduation division in Chemical Engineering (Environmental Engineering) at the PREC has created 8 Gold Medallists, filed 2 Indian Patents, and published 9 Books.


Department of Chemical Engineering established in 1983 and having several achievements in teaching and research, modernizes its programs to impart education in upcoming areas of Chemical Engineering. The Chemical Engineering course is Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, Approved by AICTE, New Delhi, Govt. of Maharashtra and Accredited by NBA in 2005. The department is having state of art laboratories, latest software and sound infrastructure that facilities the excellent teaching learning environment.

Currently it is ranked among the top departments in chemical Engineering in Maharashtra. Excellent Academic Results with 32 University Rankers so far, strong Alumni Association, Research Grants from AICTE and University, highly qualified and dedicated team of staff members are the distinguishing features of the department.

The Chemical Engineering Department emphasis on project based learning, students eccentric activities and outcome based education. The various co-curricular and extracurricular activities are organized under the banner of Chemical Engineering Students Association (CHESA). Chemstorm, A National level Technical Symposium is organized every year under CHESA.

The department is having a sound Industry Institute Interaction. Expert lectures from Industry Persons, MOUs with reputed Industries, Industrial Visits, 100% Industry Internships, Mock Interviews, Aptitude Tests, Soft Skill Training and Placements in MNCs are regularly organized with the help of our Alumni.

Chemical Engineering Students are able to:

Engineering knowledge:

Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Problem analysis:

Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

Design/development of solutions:

Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Conduct investigations of complex problems:

Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Modern tool usage:

Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

The engineer and society:

Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
