Right to Information Act

Right to Information Act

The Right to Information Act, 2005, enacted by the Parliament and effective from June 15, 2005, empowers citizens to access information under the control of public authorities to promote transparency and accountability in government institutions.

Under this Act, all Universities and Colleges established by law or substantially funded by the government, including Pravra Rural College of Pharmacy (Diploma), Pravaranagar, are recognized as public authorities. These institutions are mandated to provide access to information as defined under the Act, including the right to inspect documents, obtain certified copies, and access information in electronic formats.

In compliance with the RTI Act, the following designations are made:

  • The Public Information Officer (PIO) is responsible for receiving and responding to RTI applications by providing the requested information.
  • An Assistant Public Information Officer (APIO) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act primarily acts as a point of contact for receiving RTI applications and appeals, forwarding them to the relevant Public Information Officer (PIO) or appellate authority.
  • The Appellate Authority will handle appeals as per the provisions of the Act, either directly or forwarded through the PIO.
  • All officers are entrusted to perform their duties diligently and in accordance with the RTI Act.

This implementation ensures timely and effective response to all information requests submitted under the Right to Information Act.
