About Us
The Pravara Rural Education Society (PRES), established in July 1964 under the visionary leadership of Padmashri Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil, was founded with twin objectives:
- To provide a high-class education system comparable to the best in urban areas and
- To empower women through education.
Since its inception, PRES has grown rapidly and has played a vital role in fulfilling the diversified educational needs of the state.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Minister Water Resources (Godavari & Krishna Valley Development Corporation) Maharashtra and Chairman of Pravara Rural Education Society, the College of Agriculture, Loni was established in 2012 with the vision of imparting quality education, research,
and extension in the field of agriculture. The college began its journey with 7 dedicated faculty members and 57 students. Over the years, it has expanded steadily, and by the academic year 2024-25, it has grown to 23 faculty members and 410 students. This remarkable progress reflects the college’s strong commitment to nurturing talent, advancing agricultural innovation, and contributing significantly to the farming community.
Taking cognizance of the financial status of most students, the college operates an Earn and Learn Scheme while also assisting students obtain loan from nationalized banks and awarding scholarships and prizes to meritorious students.
Lectures by eminent personalities are arranged to help students develop insights and the Teacher-Guardian scheme ensures proper guidance of students in the formative phase of their lives. The college also offers excellent gymkhana facilities for students’ fitness.
