Overview

Pravara Public School is the premier residential English medium school in rural Maharashtra. The unspoilt rustic ambience and non-stressful academic environment make our school a much sought after institution among parents while admitting their wards. The school maintains its preeminent position with regard to the quality of its faculty, the diversity and brilliance of its students, and the wide-ranging achievements of its alumni.

Curriculum

The school curriculum is structured to meet the various development needs of students including academic, social, emotional and ethical needs. The school follows an integrated approach for holistic development of students with emphasis on cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of learning. Students are provided with opportunities to learn, develop and apply skills in critical thinking, evaluation and extrapolation, synthesizing, problem solving and applying knowledge in novel situations. Provisions have also been made for co-curricular activities, sports and cultural programmes for inculcating values.

The School conducts classes from LKG to XII. For classes XI and XII only Science stream is available.

The School has been organised in three sections: Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary. These sections, however, do not function as watertight compartments.

All the three sections are closely and functionally interconnected with an emphasis on optimum utilisation of the available resources and expertise.

Affiliation

  • • Pravara Public School follows the syllabus prescribed by Department of Education, Govt. of Maharashtra. Students are prepared for the SSC (Std X) and HSC (Std XII) examinations conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune.

Daily Routine

The school starts at 8.15 a.m. with the morning assembly. It is followed by eight academic periods. The academic session ends at 2 p.m. The club activities, inter house matches and some co-curricular and extracurricular activities are conducted in the afternoon or evening.

Co-Curricular Program

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)

Co-curricular activities are designed to develop latent talents fully and enable the children to learn to spend their leisure time in an acceptable and useful manner. A well graded programme for co-curricular activities has been made in the time table for CCA periods. The CCA programmes are conducted class wise for juniors and house-wise for seniors.

The co-curricular activities for various age groups include:

Dramatics, Calligraphy , Declamation, Extempore Speech, Debates, Poetry Recitation, Story Telling, Set Speech, Poster Making in English, Marathi & Hindi, General Knowledge Quiz, On the Spot Painting, Greeting Card Making/, Music, Band, Essay Writing, Cartoon Drawing, Spelling Bee, Letter writing, and Story writing, Recreational Activities, Musical Nights and Cultural programmes are organised in connection with national days, festivals and Annual Day. Students are encouraged to pursue and develop their artistic talents and aptitudes.

The School has a number of LCD projectors and selected films and documentaries in English and Hindi are shown once a week.

In addition, Overhead Projectors and DVD/CD players and a good collection of Educational Video CDs are also available.

The school library is well-stocked with more than 8000 titles. With the introduction of library periods in the timetable, the children are going to get familiarized with different literary genres besides improving their academic performance.

Teaching - Learning Process

  • The school provides appropriate support and instructional resources for the effective delivery of the curriculum.
  • The teachers adapt and contextualize teaching strategies based on the backgrounds and learning styles of students.
  • Teaching–learning process evolves in the class rooms with effective child centred approach and constructivist teaching methods giving scope for problem solving, inquiry-based learning, peer-to-peer learning and classroom discussion.
  • The school also has an effective and comprehensive assessment and evaluation system to monitor student performance.

Achivements

The school has so far moulded several sportsmen of national and international caliber. Anil Sanas (Basketball -1979) Siddharth Basak (Athletics 1990), Subhash Patil (Athletics 1994), Sangram Patil( Basketball 1996), James Meitei (Swimming) and Rohit Wagh (Aerobics 2011) are some of the students who donned Indian Colours at various world championships. A good number of sportsmen from our school participate at state and national level in various disciplines every year.

The alumni association of Pravara Public School is named ‘ Pravarites’ and has about 4000 members on its roll. Shri Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, President, Pravarites, is at present a Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra.

Shri. Nitin Kareer, Subhash Yeole, Vishwas Dhumal and Navjivan Pawar are Indian Administrative Service officers while Anant Tambe is an IRS Officer.

Major Vikrant Deshmukh is a recipient of the prestigious Kirti Chakra from the President of India for display of valour of exceptional order in the face of the enemy. Many other Pravarites occupy high ranking positions in the Indian Armed Forces.

A majority of Pravarites are well- established in the fields of engineering and medicine while a good number of them are pursuing excellence in fields as diverse as CA, Industry, business, advanced farming, education and other entrepreneurial ventures.

The school has been producing excellent academic results. For the last twelve consecutive years we have had 100% results at the SSC and HSC Board Exams. Vast majority of our students have passed the exams securing either distinction or first class. Chetan Rathi. Soumyadeep Ghosh and Neeraj Gade had the unique distinction of getting into the board merit list.

In the sports arena too we have been performing extremely well. Every year a considerable number of sports stars from our school participate at State and National levels in different sports disciplines.

The School has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Education and Training, QCI. The accreditation by NABET is an acknowledgement of the effective management and delivery of the holistic education for the all-round development of students in the school.

The school is marching ahead with a wide variety of life changing activities. We hope to inculcate in our children knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and behaviour patterns that are desirable for them as individuals and as proud citizens of our country.
