Overview

With facilities that support excellence in all areas, Padmashri Dr. Vittalrao Vikhe Patil Sainik School, Loni is among the best-equipped Sainik Schools in Maharashtra. The infrastructure has been suitably planned to impart best academic excellence.

Spread across a sprawling 35-acre layout, the Padmashri Dr. Vittalrao Vikhe Patil Sainik School, Loni has excellent infrastructure for classes, hostel and cadet’s mess along with number of playgrounds for all types of sports and games and International level Swimming Pool and multifaceted Sports Complex.

The Integrated Sports Complex comprises an indoor-stadium (Badminton, table tennis, etc.) an outdoor track and a field stadium.

The school endeavours to ensure that each and every despite would grow-up to be a well-balanced personality with internal and external values carrying forward the vision of the school. They will learn to respect and embrace differences across varied cultures and will develop their potential by believing in themselves as capable individuals. Facilities

Academics

Well ventilated, spacious and well illuminated class rooms equipped with modern teaching aids along with fully equipped Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electronics and Computer Science are available.

School Library

The school has a well-stocked Library to provide an environment for the cadets and the staff to develop their reading skills and to brush up their knowledge.

Houses

Sharing the same campus with the principal and staff members, the school grows in a warm and loving environment of a ‘Home away from Home’. All cadets here are grouped in six houses, namely Cariappa, Pratap, Vaidya, Shivaji, Raigarh and Sinhagarh. Each house accommodates 70-80 cadets. In order to provide role models and a family atmosphere each house is led by a House master, a member of the teaching faculty. Actively supporting the house-masters are the tutors and the superintendents/wardens.

Dormitories

The School has sixteen Dormitories for facilitating the Students. Houses accommodate junior school cadets of Classes V to VII, senior school cadets of Classes VIII to X and junior college cadets of classes XI & XII. Each house has strength of 70-80 cadets. The Students are grouped according to their age. In order to provide role models and a family atmosphere, each house is led by a House master who is a member of the faculty. Actively supporting the House masters are the attached teachers and the Wardens.

Mess

A full-fledged Mess provides hot meals to the Cadets. It has a spacious Dining Hall which can accommodate 500 cadets at one time. A wholesome vegetarian & non-vegetarian diet is provided to the cadets in a spacious mess. Masters on Duty also dines with the cadets to ensure proper observance of table-manners. On the advice of the school doctor extra diet is provided to the weak and convalescing cadets. To promote hygiene a modern automatic chapatti making machine and steam cooking system have been installed.

School Infirmary

An MBBS doctor, assisted by Nursing Assistants takes care of general health of the cadets. The school has a twelve-bed sick room for the care of ailing cadets. Cases of serious ailments are referred to Pravara Medical Trust Hospital, Loni and intimation is sent to parents. Cases of minor ailments are, however, not reported to save parents from avoidable worry.

Co-Curricular Activities

The school caters for harmonious all round development and growth of the cadets’ personality. The cadets are encouraged to take part in Debates, Declamations, Quiz competitions, Elocution competitions, Singing, Set speech, Poetry recitation, Art and craft, Story-telling competition, Calligraphy, Dramatics etc. The school provides ample opportunities and scope for the growth of creative faculties by offering photography, music, art, painting, electronics and computers as hobbies.

NCC Training

NCC is compulsory for cadets of class VIII and IX .The school has the Junior and the Senior Division NCC Wings leading up to Certificate ‘B’ competence. Drill, Annual Training Camps and Air Rifle shooting are taught as a part of NCC training. The cadets also get a chance to participate in Republic Day Parade held at New Delhi.

Scouts Training

Scouts is compulsory for cadets of class V to X. The school has Drill, Annual Training Camps as a part of Scouts training. The cadets also get a chance to participate in Independence and Republic Day Parade.

Physical Training

Health and physical education forms an integral part of the training schedule of the school. For imparting Physical Education effectively, the school has qualified Physical Director, Military training instructor, PT Instructors, Gymnastics, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Kho-Kho, Hockey, Boxing, Swimming, Horse Riding, Badminton Yoga are taught systematically and regularly. Special stress is laid on outdoor games, Drill, Mass PT and athletics.

Swimming Pool, Gymnasium and Obstacle Course

A modern and well-equipped Swimming Pool and Gymnasium are available. Swimming is compulsory. Training on Obstacle Course is imparted to test and improve the cadets’ courage physical endurance and mental robustness.

Games and Sports

Games are compulsory for all the cadets. Facilities are available for games and sports including Cricket, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Boxing, Athletics and Gymnastics.

Educational Tours, Hikes & Excursions

The school organises educational tours along with staff members to places of historical and educational interest. There is also ample opportunity for senior boys to go on hikes and out-door excursions during their stay at the school. Educational tours to NDA and other nearby military institutions are also organised.

Staff Quarters

The school administration felt the need of creating new set of accommodation for the backbone of the institution. In view of this, 8 new quarters have been for accommodating the staff.

Storage Water Tanks & Bore wells

In view of the growing problem of water scarcity in the recent past and for adequate water supply, the school has constructed large unground storage water tanks, dug bore wells and water purification system. These reservoirs meet potable water needs of the cadets, staff and their families.

Other Facilities

Through the untiring efforts of the Principal and dedicated staff, the school has attained fresh milestones. With a view to improve the life and training of cadets, facilities such as additional fans, colour TV with satellite set top box, LCD projectors, and computer labs have been provided.

The mission of Padmashri Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Sainik School is to develop young cadets into mature, responsible and capable Generation Next, provide required training to cadets to be an Officer & a Gentleman in Armed Forces of India and to prepare cadets for highest academic excellence and to enable them to choose the best career in life. In order to accomplish this, a certain degree of discipline(mainly self-discipline) is expected. This code of conduct attempts to define parameters and its observance which requires students to assume a responsible role in the boarding. Sainik School has students from various cultures and we lay stress on being sensitive to the values and customs of India and respect other cultures as well.

PASTORAL CARE

“Home away from home” is how cadets living in the hostel feel. The Hostels have been specifically designed to provide warm and caring family like environment.

The entire hostel has been divided into two blocks. Each block contains eight dormitories. The hostel building houses 6 houses. The houses are parented by House Masters who take care of their own respective houses. Beside House Master, Warden and House appointments are responsible for maintaining discipline in dorm comfortable at all times.

Other than cadet appointments, three tiered guidance are provided to cadets in houses:

  • Tier 1 - controlled by Matrons/ Wardens.
  • Tier 2 - looked after by House Masters. They are junior teachers who will take care of administration & discipline.
  • Tier 3 – this tier is under the guidance of Senior House Masters. They are senior teachers who contribute towards academics.

All senior cadets take responsibility for mentoring junior cadets. Senior cadets Influence and encourage useful initiative and good behaviour by their example.

Cadets are supportive of each other within hostels and around the school, and this promotes a safe, comfortable environment to develop.

Empathy and respect providing an inclusive environment that supports Cadet’s special cultures and values.

Teachers give love and affection to the cadets in place of their parents. Relation between Staff and cadets of different ages are exemplary.

Infirmary staff Nurses and school Doctor take care of cadet’s health by daily check-up.

Utmost care is taken to provide our boarders to be in a safe, warm and caring environment in the campus.

Cadets involves in various House activities which helps them to overcome stage fright and build their confidence level.
