Department of Hindi
The department of Hindi was established in 1971. General Hindi was introduced in 1972. While Hindi as a special subject started in 1973. In 1972, Hindi Language and Literature was introduced at M.A. level. In addition to this, under Pune University,the department offers conventional courses at UG level. The choice-based credit semester system is applied at the PG level. The UG and PG courses are run as per the Pune University norms. The department is progressive as far as the results are considered for the academic year 2016-17. The B.A. result was 85% and M.A. result was 100%.One of the students of the Hindi department, qualified NET in 2013, SET in 2014 and M.Phil. in 2015.

- Miss Bhosale Sonali Anton held first rank in M.A. Hindi, April 2016-2017 in S.P. Pune University.
- Miss Chaugule Ashwini Navnath held third rank in T.Y.B.A. Hindi, April 2017 in S. P. Pune University.
- Miss Puri Savita Babasaheb achieved nineth rank in S. P. Pune University at M.A. Hindi in April 2015.
- Miss Shaikh Afrin Sikandar stood fourth in S. P. Pune University at T.Y.B.A. Hindi in April 2013.
- Miss Pathare Sunita Baban has qualified the State Eligibility Test held in September 2015.
- Mr. Gagare Prakash Bhagvat has qualified the State Eligibility Test held in Deember 2013.
- Our faculties regularly participate and present papers in the International,National,and State level conferences and seminars.
- Every year the department celebrates Hindi Divas (National Language Day) on 14th September.
- The department has also organized National Seminar on 13th to 14th January 2017.
- The student of the Hindi department, Miss.Chaugule Ashwini was selected as the best volunteer of NSS in 2016.
Infrastructure
The department of Hindi is located in the Main Building of the college, measuring 11.17 Sq. feet floor, with sufficient furniture and a computer.
Library
The college has centralized library with a rich collection of books fulfilling the needs of both the UG/ PG courses. The department library consists of 175 reference books and 17 projects written by the T.Y.B.A. restructuring students,under the guidance of the faculty. To improve the vocabulary and for the better understanding of the subject, the departmental library has ten dictionaries which give meanings of English, Urdu and Marathi words into Hindi.
Admission
Students are admitted to the special course in Hindi, as per their choice, based on the marks obtained at the last qualifying examination. The procedure of admission strictly follows the University and government guidelines. The eligibility criteria and other relevant information is provided to the students through college prospectus and website. A separate Admission Committee looks after the admission process.
Academic Program
The department offers a degree course (B.A. In Hindi) at Under-Graduate level while M.A. in Hindi at Post-Graduation level. The students can choose Hindi as a Special subject in the Second Year of the UG course.
Teaching
Along with the conventional methods of teaching,LCD,PPTs,Internet, CDs, Maps and Charts are used for effective teaching. Study tours are organized to provide practical knowledge to the students. For upgradation, open discussions and feedbacks are beneficial.
Learning
In addition to the classroom learning, study tours, library, internet,computers,seminars and guest lectures are the other means available in the department.
The continuous evaluation methods like tests,tutorials, group discussions, orals,students seminars, etc. are used for the internal assessment of the students.
Research
Recently, Research activities in the department are enhanced. One of the faculty members of the department has completed his M.Phil. while three faculty members are pursuing the degree of Ph.D. The faculty members are regularly involved in the publication and presentation of research papers. A National level seminar entitled “Bhartiya Loksahitya Swarup va Sankalpana” was organized by the department. In 2017, one of the faculty members, Prof. Khemnar D.K. edited a reference book entitled ‘Indian Folk Literature : Nature and Concept".
Other
One of the faculty members of the department acted as a Guest Lecturer to various colleges for promotion and spreading awareness of the National Language, Hindi.The rules of grammar of Devnagari Script were taught to the students of Guha orphanage. The students of the ‘Earn and Learn Scheme’ were guided to maintain cleanliness in the campus. They were also looked after whenever need arises.The students were encouraged to produce literature in Hindi for boosting their writing talent. The faculty members actively participate in the various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities conducted by the college and PRES.
