Any Science/Agriculture/Engineering/Home Science graduate student is admitted to the M.Sc. by following University and Government guidelines.

Department of Microbiology was established in academic year 2014-2015 to inculcate the significance of Microbiology. The department envisions creating skilled human resource in the field of Microbiology. The department offers under-graduate course under general streams with Microbiology as special subject at third year level along with that co-curricular activities are conducted for enhancing overall progress of students. The Laboratory is well equipped with all the equipments such as laminar air hood, Incubator ,autoclave etc.

Considering the infrastructural facilities and recognize guide available for the students to pursue Ph.D. studies, University has approved department as a research centre in 2009. At present two students are working for their Ph. D. degree in the subject at this center.

The infrastructure in the Department includes well equipped laboratories, instrumentation and computer room with free internet facility. The department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, rock and mineral specimens and modern ICT facilities like computers, internet, LCD helping the students for independent learning. The Department also run its own library with 130 assorted reference books, 180 student projects and 70 in plant training project of students apart from the central library of the College.

Modern teaching methods are practiced for teaching; like use of LCD, internet, GPS in addition to the conventional methods to conduct few lecturers. Besides learning, department also promote the students for In-plant training, ecological visits, industrial visits and to attend seminars/conference/workshops etc. The students evaluated through internal test, group discussion, seminar, tutorials and practical work. Final evaluation is through University examination conducted at the end of semester, as course run under semester pattern. The success rate of students in the subject has been consistently higher than 60%.

Research has become continuous activity of the department. To keep abreast with the new developments in the subject and also exchange research ideas, the department faculty along with research students attends various Conference, Seminars and Workshop etc. for their and department quality improvement. In last five years twenty three research papers published in National and International Journals. Through research activity, the Department is handling different issues to find some solutions on environmental problems which in turns help to extension activity of the Department. Along with this one minor research projects funded by BCUD, Savitribai Phule Pune University have been completed in 2016.

Apart from teaching and research work the staff members, continuously extend their services for the growth, development and working of college along with University work.

The staff members greatly acknowledge the constant motivation and support from the head of the institution, management and various funding agencies for the achievements.
